General Skilled Migration

General Skilled Migration is the most suitable option for workers, who are skilled in occupations that in high demand in Australia, to work and migrate permanently. General Skilled Migration comprises of varies subclasses including provisional and permanent visas. General Skilled Migration doesn’t require any sponsorship from business employer.

Various Visa options in General Skilled Migration

  • Skilled Independent visa – subclass 189.
  • Skilled Regional sponsored visa – subclass 489 (This visa subclass has two different stream 1) State Regional Sponsored 2) Family Sponsored).
  • Skilled Nominated visa – subclass 190.

General skilled Migration is a two-step Process:

Step 1: Skill Select Program under which an applicant needs to lodge an Expression of Interest after meeting a minimum point requirement
In this step the applicant provides the following information so that Skill Select program can calculate the points based on that.
1) Basic personal information including name, DOB
2) Work experience if any
3) Educational Qualification
4) English Language Ability information (such as IELTS, PTE)
5) Details of successful skills assessment, related to your nominated occupation

The applicant needs to score at least 65 points to submit an EOI. Although minimum threshold to submit is 65 points, the invitation may require higher points depending on the occupation and the visa subclass due a smaller number of invitations available and large number of higher-point EOI’s.
Step 2: Visa Application under which the applicant applies for the visa after getting the invitation from Skill-select Program.

In this Step, the applicant provides all the evidence of information related the area for which he claimed the points in the submitted in EOI along with character and heath declaration and make a visa application through an immi account.

Provisional Vs Permanent Visa

A permanent visa means you get the right to live and work permanently under the visa subclass although there may some restrictions of living in a state or area for a certain period. For example, 189, 190

A provisional visa is not a permanent visa but may lead to a permanent residency visa. For example Skilled Regional sponsored visa – subclass 489 (This visa subclass has two different stream 1) State Regional Sponsored 2) Family Sponsored)
